Wall & Floor Chasing
in Bristol

Cable, pipe and underfloor heating chases cut straight and to depth across Bristol
and the South West, with dust extraction and no hammering out.

CHASING

LAP Diamond Drilling cuts wall and floor chases in Bristol for electricians, plumbers, heating engineers and builders. We use twin-blade wall chasers and diamond floor saws with dust extraction, so every chase comes out straight, at the right depth and ready for the cable or pipe, without hacking out the wall.

Most of our chasing is for rewires, new pipe runs, kitchen and bathroom refits and underfloor heating. If the job also needs holes for soil pipes or ducts, we can do the diamond core drilling on the same visit, and openings with concrete saw cutting.

WALL CHASING

We cut wall chases in brick, block, stone and concrete with a twin-blade chaser and H-class extraction. The blades set the width and the depth stop sets the depth, so the chase is consistent along the whole run. Vertical chases should be no deeper than a third of the wall thickness, and horizontal chases no deeper than a sixth, so we check the wall before we cut.

Floor Chasing

Floor chases for pipes and underfloor heating are cut into concrete slabs and screed with a diamond floor saw or a hand-held saw with a depth stop. In screed over existing heating pipes, we cut shallow and check the pipe layout first. For deeper trenches or drain runs, see our floor sawing service.

Why a Cut Chase Beats Hacking It Out

NEAT INSTALLATION

A sawn chase has straight, parallel sides, so cables and pipes sit flush and the plasterer has a clean line to fill. There’s no blown plaster or loose brick either side to make good, which saves time for the next trade.

PRECISION CUTTING

The depth stop and fixed blade width give the same chase from one end of the run to the other. That means no weak spots from cutting too deep, and no pipes sitting proud because the chase was too shallow.

DUST CONTROL

Every chase is cut with on-tool extraction, or wet in concrete, so the silica dust is caught at the blade. That keeps lived-in homes, offices and finished rooms clean, and keeps the work in line with HSE guidance.

TIME SAVING

A wall chaser cuts several metres an hour, far faster than a grinder and bolster, and leaves less filling. Trades can get their cables and pipes in the same day, and the room’s ready for plaster sooner.

FAQs

Wall and Floor Chasing FAQs

How much does wall chasing cost?

Most chasing is priced by the visit, not the metre. Our minimum visit is £150, a half day is £250–£300 and a full day is £450–£550, all ex VAT. Most domestic rewires and pipe runs fit into a half day or a full day. See our pricing guide for what affects the cost.

Deep enough for the cable or pipe to sit flush, usually 20–25mm for cables and 25–35mm for copper pipe. Vertical chases should be no deeper than a third of the wall thickness, and horizontal chases no deeper than a sixth. Cable runs should also follow the safe zones in BS 7671. Our guide to wall chasing vs floor chasing covers sizes in more detail.

Yes. Every wall chase is cut with on-tool H-class extraction, and concrete is cut wet, so the silica dust is caught at the blade instead of filling the room. That keeps lived-in homes and finished rooms clean, and keeps the work in line with HSE construction dust guidance.

Most of our chasing is for trades. Electricians, plumbers, heating engineers and kitchen fitters mark out the runs, we cut them, and they get their cables and pipes in the same day. If the job also needs holes through walls or floors, we can do the core drilling on the same visit.

Send Liam photos of the walls or floors, with the runs marked or a rough drawing and the total length, on 07833 445534 (call or WhatsApp) or liam@lapdiamonddrilling.co.uk. Quotes are free. We cover Bristol, Bath and the wider South West.
