With a strong foundation built on expertise and industry recognition, LAP Diamond Drilling became a trusted name in the field, delivering precision and reliability in every project.

Saw Cutting for Openings, Drains and Slabs

LAP Diamond Drilling provides concrete saw cutting in Bristol for builders, groundworkers and homeowners. We use diamond blade wall saws, ring saws and floor saws to cut through concrete, block, brick and stone accurately, cleanly and without the vibration of breaking out.

Most of our work is new door and window openings, widening existing openings, ACO drain runs and cutting slabs out for drains and services. Every cut is done wet to keep dust down, and Liam is on every job from survey to final cut.

Our Saw Cutting Methods

FLAT SAW CUTTING

Straight cuts in roads, yards and paths, cut on the surface.

WALL SAW CUTTING

Track-mounted saw for openings and reinforced walls.

RING SAW CUTTING

Handheld saw for openings in walls up to 270mm thick.

FLOOR & SLAB SAW CUTTING

Deep cuts so slabs lift out in sections for drains & services.

Why Saw Cutting Beats Breaking Out

PRECISE CUTS

A diamond blade cuts exactly to the marked line, so a new opening comes out square and ready for a lintel or frame. There’s no ragged edge to make good afterwards, and no loose brick or blockwork around the opening.

VERSATILE APPLICATIONS

One visit can cover a new doorway in a block wall, a widened opening in reinforced concrete, an ACO drain run across a yard or a slab cut out for new services. We pick the saw to suit the job and the access.

MINIMAL DISRUPTION

Sawing doesn’t hammer the structure the way a breaker does, so cracking spreads less and the work is quieter. That makes it the better option in lived-in homes, occupied offices and shops that need to stay open while the work is done.

DUST CONTROL

We cut wet, so the water traps the dust at the blade instead of filling the room. Slurry is contained and cleaned up as we go, which keeps the site safer and keeps the work in line with HSE silica dust guidance.

FAQs

Concrete Saw cutting FAQs

Do I need a structural engineer for a new opening?

Usually, yes, if the wall is load-bearing. Most new door or window openings in a load-bearing wall need an engineer’s calculations for the lintel and Building Control sign-off before we cut. The wall also needs propping while the lintel goes in. Non-load-bearing walls are simpler. If you’re not sure, send Liam a photo and he’ll tell you what you need before you book.

It depends on the saw. Our ring saw cuts openings in walls up to around 270mm thick. Thicker walls and deep slab cuts are done with the wall saw or floor saw. Tell us the thickness and material when you send your photos and we’ll confirm the right method.

Yes. Diamond blades cut through steel rebar as well as the concrete, so reinforced walls, slabs and lintels are cut cleanly in one pass, without breaking out.

Far less than breaking out. We cut wet, so the water traps the dust at the blade. The slurry it creates is contained and cleaned up as we go, which keeps the site safer and keeps the work in line with HSE silica dust guidance.

Most standard door openings in block or concrete are cut in a few hours once the lintel and propping are in place. Larger openings, reinforced concrete or restricted access can take longer. We’ll give you a time on the quote.

Send a photo of the wall or slab and the size you need cut to Liam on 07833 445534 (call or WhatsApp) or liam@lapdiamonddrilling.co.uk. Quotes are free. We cover Bristol, Bath and the wider South West.
